Godan verb (す)

減らすへらす

herasu

to abate · N3

減らす (へらす, herasu) — to abate — is a godan verb ending in す: 減らして (te-form), 減らした (past), 減らさない (negative), 減らします (polite).

It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to decrease; to diminish.

How 減らす conjugates · godan す-verb

Only the last kana changes: す becomes さ, し, せ or そ.

Which one depends on the ending. The five are one line of the hiragana chart — same consonant, vowels あ・い・う・え・お — and everything before that kana never changes.
