Godan verb (む)
悲しむかなしむ
kanashimu悲しむ (かなしむ, kanashimu) — to be sad — is a godan verb ending in む: 悲しんで (te-form), 悲しんだ (past), 悲しまない (negative), 悲しみます (polite).
It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to mourn for; to regret.

Only the last kana changes: む becomes ま, み, め or も.
