Ichidan verb
調べるしらべる
shiraberu調べる (しらべる, shiraberu) — to examine — is an ichidan verb: 調べて (te-form), 調べた (past), 調べない (negative), 調べます (polite).
It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to look up; to investigate.

Drop the る, then add the ending.
Nothing else moves: every ending attaches straight to the stem 調べ. That is what makes ichidan the easy class.

No sound changes and no vowel rows. The catch is telling ichidan from godan: plenty of godan verbs end in る too.
