Godan verb (む)

睨むにらむ

niramu

to glare at · N2

睨む (にらむ, niramu) — to glare at — is a godan verb ending in む: にらんで (te-form), にらんだ (past), にらまない (negative), にらみます (polite).

It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It is usually written in kana: にらむ rather than 睨む. It also means to scowl at; to glower at.

How にらむ conjugates · godan む-verb

Only the last kana changes: む becomes ま, み, め or も.

Which one depends on the ending. The five are one line of the hiragana chart — same consonant, vowels あ・い・う・え・お — and everything before that kana never changes.
