Ichidan verb
命じるめいじる
meijiru命じる (めいじる, meijiru) — to order — is an ichidan verb: 命じて (te-form), 命じた (past), 命じない (negative), 命じます (polite).
It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to command.
How 命じる conjugates · ichidan verb
Drop the る, then add the ending.
Nothing else moves: every ending attaches straight to the stem 命じ. That is what makes ichidan the easy class.

No sound changes and no vowel rows. The catch is telling ichidan from godan: plenty of godan verbs end in る too.
