Ichidan verb
認めるみとめる
mitomeru認める (みとめる, mitomeru) — to recognize — is an ichidan verb: 認めて (te-form), 認めた (past), 認めない (negative), 認めます (polite).
It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to recognise; to observe.

Drop the る, then add the ending.
Nothing else moves: every ending attaches straight to the stem 認め. That is what makes ichidan the easy class.

No sound changes and no vowel rows. The catch is telling ichidan from godan: plenty of godan verbs end in る too.
