Ichidan verb
褒めるほめる
homeru褒める (ほめる, homeru) — to praise — is an ichidan verb: 褒めて (te-form), 褒めた (past), 褒めない (negative), 褒めます (polite).
It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to commend; to compliment.

No sound changes and no vowel rows. The catch is telling ichidan from godan: plenty of godan verbs end in る too.
