Ichidan verb
続けるつづける
tsuzukeru続ける (つづける, tsuzukeru) — to continue — is an ichidan verb: 続けて (te-form), 続けた (past), 続けない (negative), 続けます (polite).
It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to keep up; to keep on.

Drop the る, then add the ending.
Nothing else moves: every ending attaches straight to the stem 続け. That is what makes ichidan the easy class.

No sound changes and no vowel rows. The catch is telling ichidan from godan: plenty of godan verbs end in る too.
