高める (たかめる, takameru) — to raise — is an ichidan verb: 高めて (te-form), 高めた (past), 高めない (negative), 高めます (polite).

It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to lift; to boost.

Drop the る, then add the ending.

Nothing else moves: every ending attaches straight to the stem 高め. That is what makes ichidan the easy class.
