Godan verb (す)
記すしるす
shirusu記す (しるす, shirusu) — to write down — is a godan verb ending in す: 記して (te-form), 記した (past), 記さない (negative), 記します (polite).
It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to note down; to jot down.

Only the last kana changes: す becomes さ, し, せ or そ.
Which one depends on the ending. The five are one line of the hiragana chart — same consonant, vowels あ・い・う・え・お — and everything before that kana never changes.

For a す-verb even the て and た forms follow the pattern; every other godan ending changes its sound there.
