Ichidan verb
強いるしいる
shiiru強いる (しいる, shiiru) — to force — is an ichidan verb: 強いて (te-form), 強いた (past), 強いない (negative), 強います (polite).
It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to compel; to coerce.

Drop the る, then add the ending.
Nothing else moves: every ending attaches straight to the stem 強い. That is what makes ichidan the easy class.

No sound changes and no vowel rows. The catch is telling ichidan from godan: plenty of godan verbs end in る too.
