Godan verb (む)

萎むしぼむ

shibomu

to wither (of flowers, dreams, etc.) · N2

萎む (しぼむ, shibomu) — to wither — is a godan verb ending in む: しぼんで (te-form), しぼんだ (past), しぼまない (negative), しぼみます (polite).

It is usually written in kana: しぼむ rather than 萎む. It also means to wilt; to droop.

How しぼむ conjugates · godan む-verb

Only the last kana changes: む becomes ま, み, め or も.

Which one depends on the ending. The five are one line of the hiragana chart — same consonant, vowels あ・い・う・え・お — and everything before that kana never changes.
