刈る (かる, karu) — to cut — is a godan verb ending in る: 刈って (te-form), 刈った (past), 刈らない (negative), 刈ります (polite).

It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to mow; to clip.

Only the last kana changes: る becomes ら, り, れ or ろ.
