放る (ほうる, houru) — to throw — is a godan verb ending in る: 放って (te-form), 放った (past), 放らない (negative), 放ります (polite).
It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to fling; to hurl.

Only the last kana changes: る becomes ら, り, れ or ろ.
