The 19 godan verbs that end in つ. A godan verb moves its final kana along that kana's vowel row: た before ない (待たない), ち before ます (待ちます), て for the potential and ば forms (待てる, 待てば), と for the volitional (待とう). Its て and た forms are 待って and 待った. In the て and た forms it takes って, which it shares with う and る.
