Ichidan verb
集めるあつめる
atsumeru集める (あつめる, atsumeru) — to collect — is an ichidan verb: 集めて (te-form), 集めた (past), 集めない (negative), 集めます (polite).
It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to assemble; to gather.

Drop the る, then add the ending.
Nothing else moves: every ending attaches straight to the stem 集め. That is what makes ichidan the easy class.

No sound changes and no vowel rows. The catch is telling ichidan from godan: plenty of godan verbs end in る too.
