Godan verb (く)

躓くつまずく

tsumazuku

to trip (over) · N2

躓く (つまずく, tsumazuku) — to trip — is a godan verb ending in く: つまずいて (te-form), つまずいた (past), つまずかない (negative), つまずきます (polite).

It is usually written in kana: つまずく rather than 躓く. It also means to stumble.

How つまずく conjugates · godan く-verb

Only the last kana changes: く becomes か, き, け or こ.

Which one depends on the ending. The five are one line of the hiragana chart — same consonant, vowels あ・い・う・え・お — and everything before that kana never changes.
