聳える (そびえる, sobieru) — to rise — is an ichidan verb: そびえて (te-form), そびえた (past), そびえない (negative), そびえます (polite).

It is usually written in kana: そびえる rather than 聳える. It also means to tower; to soar.

How そびえる conjugates · ichidan verb

Drop the る, then add the ending.

Nothing else moves: every ending attaches straight to the stem そびえ. That is what makes ichidan the easy class.
