Godan verb (ぶ)
結ぶむすぶ
musubu結ぶ (むすぶ, musubu) — to tie — is a godan verb ending in ぶ: 結んで (te-form), 結んだ (past), 結ばない (negative), 結びます (polite).
It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to bind; to link.
How 結ぶ conjugates · godan ぶ-verb
Only the last kana changes: ぶ becomes ば, び, べ or ぼ.
Which one depends on the ending. The five are one line of the hiragana chart — same consonant, vowels あ・い・う・え・お — and everything before that kana never changes.

The て and た forms are the only two that don't follow this pattern. Every む-, ぶ- and ぬ-verb has the same んで there.
