不味い (まずい, mazui) — bad — is an -adjective: まずかった (past), まずくない (negative), まずくて (te-form), まずいです (polite).

It is usually written in kana: まずい rather than 不味い. It also means unpalatable; unsavoury.

Drop the final , then add the ending.

Every form is built on the stem まず. The one that isn't: the polite present, which is the whole word plus です.
