Godan verb (す)

零すこぼす

kobosu

to spill · N2

零す (こぼす, kobosu) — to spill — is a godan verb ending in す: こぼして (te-form), こぼした (past), こぼさない (negative), こぼします (polite).

It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It is usually written in kana: こぼす rather than 零す. It also means to drop; to shed.

How こぼす conjugates · godan す-verb

Only the last kana changes: す becomes さ, し, せ or そ.

Which one depends on the ending. The five are one line of the hiragana chart — same consonant, vowels あ・い・う・え・お — and everything before that kana never changes.
