Godan verb (る)

嵩張るかさばる

kasabaru

to be bulky · N1

嵩張る (かさばる, kasabaru) — to be bulky — is a godan verb ending in る: かさばって (te-form), かさばった (past), かさばらない (negative), かさばります (polite).

It is usually written in kana: かさばる rather than 嵩張る. It also means to be unwieldy; to grow voluminous.

How かさばる conjugates · godan る-verb

Only the last kana changes: る becomes ら, り, れ or ろ.

Which one depends on the ending. The five are one line of the hiragana chart — same consonant, vowels あ・い・う・え・お — and everything before that kana never changes.
