悲しいかなしい
kanashii悲しい (かなしい, kanashii) — sad — is an い-adjective: 悲しかった (past), 悲しくない (negative), 悲しくて (te-form), 悲しいです (polite).
It also means miserable; unhappy.
How 悲しい conjugates · い-adjective
Drop the final い, then add the ending.
Every form is built on the stem 悲し. The one that isn't: the polite present, which is the whole word plus です.
