Ichidan verb
縮めるちぢめる
chijimeru縮める (ちぢめる, chijimeru) — to shorten — is an ichidan verb: 縮めて (te-form), 縮めた (past), 縮めない (negative), 縮めます (polite).
It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to reduce; to condense.

Drop the る, then add the ending.
Nothing else moves: every ending attaches straight to the stem 縮め. That is what makes ichidan the easy class.

No sound changes and no vowel rows. The catch is telling ichidan from godan: plenty of godan verbs end in る too.
