Ichidan verb
憧れるあこがれる
akogareru憧れる (あこがれる, akogareru) — to long for — is an ichidan verb: 憧れて (te-form), 憧れた (past), 憧れない (negative), 憧れます (polite).
It also means to yearn for; to hanker after.

Drop the る, then add the ending.
Nothing else moves: every ending attaches straight to the stem 憧れ. That is what makes ichidan the easy class.
