Ichidan verb
諦めるあきらめる
akirameru諦める (あきらめる, akirameru) — to give up — is an ichidan verb: 諦めて (te-form), 諦めた (past), 諦めない (negative), 諦めます (polite).
It is transitive: it takes a direct object. It also means to abandon; to resign oneself.

Drop the る, then add the ending.
Nothing else moves: every ending attaches straight to the stem 諦め. That is what makes ichidan the easy class.

No sound changes and no vowel rows. The catch is telling ichidan from godan: plenty of godan verbs end in る too.
