黙る (だまる, damaru) — to be silent — is a godan verb ending in る: 黙って (te-form), 黙った (past), 黙らない (negative), 黙ります (polite).

It also means to say nothing.

Only the last kana changes: る becomes ら, り, れ or ろ.
