Godan verb (る)

上がるあがる

agaru

to rise · N4

上がる (あがる, agaru) — to rise — is a godan verb ending in る: 上がって (te-form), 上がった (past), 上がらない (negative), 上がります (polite).

It also means to go up; to come up.

How 上がる conjugates · godan る-verb

Only the last kana changes: る becomes ら, り, れ or ろ.

Which one depends on the ending. The five are one line of the hiragana chart — same consonant, vowels あ・い・う・え・お — and everything before that kana never changes.
